COMMUNITY MANAGER (Los Angeles Office)

The Community Manager at Matte Black is someone who has a strong interest in social media, content and marketing, working in a ‘soup to nuts’ capacity. This person is a total self-starter, impeccable communicator (written and verbal), can manage their time efficiently, does not need to be told direction, and is organized beyond belief.
As a start up, the company pace & environment is fast moving, very social, and highly creative! We are looking for someone who is curious about all areas of marketing, looking to constantly learn, be curious and hone their craft.
This is someone who can contribute to the creative energy of the office and our clients; a networker, connector and social maven. The role will report directly to the Client Strategists on a daily basis.
Every hire is critical for us: from contributing to strategy decks, delving deep into social listing and community growth, developing campaign ideas, liaising with influencers, managing daily content on clients social networks (daily posting), to experiential programs.

- Marketing/PR/Journalism/Social Media Degree
- 1-2 years experience on a marketing team or in a related field
- Social network junkie: Community management experience required
- Great writing skills
- Analytical thinking with understanding of basic paid social stats
- Great communication skills
- Interest in video & content development
- Must be organized
- Familiarity with Mac products (Keynote, Pages, Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work as a team, but also independently and self-directed
- Outside of the box thinker
- Photoshop skills a plus
Sample Daily Tasks
+ Assist with implementation of the social media strategy for Company and all clients, coordinating with Client Strategists to ensure its effectiveness and encouraging audience growth. Comes to the table with big ideas & outside of the box thinking.
+ Assist on social media campaigns and day-to-day activities for Company and all clients. Duties include online advocacy, writing editorial, content calendaring, community-outreach efforts, promotions, best practices, etc.
+ Community management of social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest and other similar community sites. Must be savvy on understanding best practices, growing social media communities and frequency & timeliness of posting across multiple client networks. Understanding the how/why from everything to hashtag use to trending topics.
+ Focused on, and continuously ideating around, user acquisition programs for clients and communities.
+ Writing all Client social media posts weekly and manage all scheduling.
+ Responsible for success of weekly social engagement & growth for clients: weekly reporting on growth week by week within internal team.
+ Attend weekly team meetings with high level of contribution & organization. Manage flow of meetings & ensure deliverables met week after week.
+ Work with Content Manager and Art Director on photo and video asset needs tied to Client networks on a weekly basis; assist in production + coordination of weekly shoots.
+ Works with Brand + Editorial Marketing Manager to assist with management of influencer outreach programs and build an active brand ambassador network to spread the word about the Company and all Clients. Consistently building on and researching new blogs in all industries from food to fashion to tech.
+ Development of all client monthly reports. Important to understand insights gained from social media monitoring and integrate into reports, helping to evolve their strategies in a timely fashion.
+ Monitor trends in social media tools, digital trends and applications.
+ Constant development of trend and research driven offline and online tactics & strategies for clients; Assist with development of the Shape / Shift Report, our agency trend report.
+ Become an advocate of the Company in online and offline; social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
